any kind of public address or alert/siren system
noises that you notice
but dont necessarally want to be there
car crashes
helicopters
born against
flipper
jesus lizard
nailbomb
now add only being capable of
fretting two chords in a riff
and a great musician playing drums
with the patience of a saint

Techno. Chasing after some of those weird sampled sounds has led to a whole lot of discovery for me.

tangent, there used to be a venue in youngstown ohio named nyabinghi. it had NOTHING to do w/ rasta though, was more like a dirty/metal/biker bar, don't know where it got the name when it was created...

Re: Unusual influences on your sound...
The Delfonics, Medieval and renaissance choral music, Thin Lizzy, Doc Watson, Allman Bros., and a world of other things which probably wouldn't be easily recognized by a listener. I hear them obviously. But I know where to look/listen for them. I like threads like these
EDIT: Perhaps my most unusual influences are the sounds that can be heard in swamps. Alligators bellowing, mosquitoes/flies/bees buzzing, cottonmouths hissing, bubbles, crows...my Phantom Octave really captures many of these sounds, specifically the insects, snakes, and alligators.

Black Metal's also a pretty big influence on us, and Ulver in particular. Especially on the last EP.
