Unusual influences on your sound...
I didn't know really where to post this, so if it needs to be relocated let me know.
But I got to thinking today, wow, I never really realized how much Spaghetti Western and surf music has an influence on my sound when playing.
More specifically that dripping spring reverb sound that I don't think I could live without.
I guess I bring it up because I do not play Spaghetti Western nor Surf music. But man, if I hadn't have heard it, I don't know where I'd be.
Any weird sources of musical inspriation on your projects and your sound?

Indian classical music, Turkish folk music and Arabic folk music all influence my sound a bit. I love playing with scales and tones found in those types of music, but feeding it through a fuzzed out guitar or bass.

Skinny puppy. I usually play rock and metal but SP HUGE ass synth bass lines have influenced my "sound" a lot. Also KMFDM. I find myself lisining to Motown a lot as well but I grew up on that shit and its beefy basslines.

I'm not sure how to fully answer this without tipping my hand; giving away secrets I'm not yet ready to reveal.
For now, I'll just leave it at this: Surrealism in pop culture.

Whenever I touch the Electribe I try to channel Yuzo Koshiro, the dude who made the music for the Streets of Rage games. As a kid I was always into the sounds and music in vidja games. Sound Test menus are cool.
Also, Andy Rourke and Agata are my DUDES.

Environmental sounds- wind, waves, lightning, trains, etc.. It's amazing how you can draw inspiration just by listening closely to the world around you.
Syd Barrett, even though I rarely listen to his stuff I tend to channel it unconsciously or something.

Gotta agree with the weird environmental sounds being an influence, I moved next to a train yard recently and find myself wanting to replicate the metallic groans and clangs with the guitfiddle.

I can't stand being in an air conditioned room with the windows shut, colorful vinyl and ducks are ok... It's 100 here and I can't drive with the windows up and I haven't turned on my A.C. at home yet...
