It's digital, so unless you want to mess with DSP code... No i'd say.

I think Analogman makes a mod for it. If I'm not mistaken, it allows you to modulate the repeats via another pedal/processor. As for doing the mod yourself, I have no idea.

$69 for the mod and another $30 for the effects loop mod and a cable? :idk:

And it's not actually a trails mod... it's just cap switching, I assume being digital it's all surface mount in side the pedal, but I have been fooled before, but anyway, soldering Surface mount parts may be hard if you wanna do it yourself but he's just changing out a capacitor.

can anyone name some delays with a trails function? i think the superdelay has one if im not mistaken.

nova delay, echo park i think? are 2 that spring to mind. prolly the dl4 too then if that is the case

Build a true bypass box for it? run the return directly to the output have the 3dpt set to ground the input when not being used? Not sure if that would work but from my somewhat limited understanding it should? and you get true bypass. :?:

Or Buy my DD6 so I can get a malekko 616 =P

DL-4 can be set to do trails (you mean the delay trails off right?) but you lose true bypass.
