Jello Biafra. Don't get me wrong, I bought a few DKs records, LARD, and even some spoken words. But goddamn that voice never settled with me from the first note I heard.

I think on one of his spoken words, he made a remark about punk being a reaction to elitism of 70s rock and how punk bands didn't have to be "special or talented". And I bought that line for a while, but nowadays weighing Jellos contributions versus the other musicians in that group, it's kinda like "you were just talking about yourself there."
This is a very impressive collection of Roto Toms. That's 21 Roto Toms in all. That is only $33.00 a Roto Tom.

A) Heresy
B) I feel like the point of DK is to have that voice doing exactly that?

I'd pay to buy them all over as instrumentals.

More bands should sell instrumental versions of their records.

I love Jello Biafra so much and his voice is one of the best voices. But people often think that he was the only member of the DKs with any merit or importance to the band. I'm more of an East Bay Ray kind of guy. His guitar playing is as important (or more, even) to the success of their best records. Think of "Holiday In Cambodia" without EBR's intro.

I love East Bay Ray's playing and tone too. One of my favorite. Always reminded of me of some sort of twisted horror surf music.

But anyway, I watched a documentary this weekend on Amazon Prime called 'Records Collecting Dust' which had a bunch of old punk dudes and such like Jello Biafra, Keith Morris, and Mike Watt talking about their album collections and the albums that inspired them. Jello showed 'Space Ritual' by Hawkwind and said that was the first album that ever made him interested in any kind of "psychedelic" (I forget his exact words) music. He then went on to say that the intro to Holiday In Cambodia wouldn't exist without that Hawkwind album.
