The DOD vibrothang will almost do phaser and vibrato sounds and also almost trem sounds but ultimately it just sounds like it's self. Could be worth a look.

I've been meaning to pick one of them up for ages. Culturejam had one in the BST recently.

Actually, the vibrothang was one of my first pedals ever. It's been more than a decade sins I flipped it, but I remember it sounded too smooth and subtle, and I'm pretty sure I'd still feel that way. I remember it exactly like you describe it, which is sorta why I didn't really love it. No throbby vibe tones, no whobbly vibrato or lush chorus...It was good at everything, and great at nothing :idk:

Do it!

Seriously, it's kinda unique in the way that it's not a true phaser or vibrato. I just don't seem to get along with civilised sounding pedals that won't do over the top sounds. But the vibrothang definately is a great tool, sounds musical and just...warm :idk:

Like I said though, at this point I'd like to try a thick throbby vibe style effect. Never owned a univibe, and it seems like nowadays there's a zillion boutique as well as non-boutique vibe clones out there, I figure the time is right to get my feet wet...:idk:

I love my Diamond Halo Chorus. Dead simple subtle analog chorus + a 2 stage phaser circuit with some thoughtful features: http://www.diamondpedals.com/products/halo-chorus/

Apparently, they will do mods like: external kill dry switch (turning it into a vibrato), external delay time knob, waveform switch. Even without the mods, it's my go-to modulation pedal. You aren't going to save any bucks though. Pretty pricey.

I'd keep the CE-2. You're not going to get better for what it does.

The phaser is hit or miss. I've always hated that era DOD phase (and most of their other stuff).

If you're looking for vibe, a guy I know who's a beyond Hendrix nut is swearing by the new TC vibe pedal. Cheapish, can load it with whatever wacky toneprint you want, be done?

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

Right before I read your post, I got offered an MXR uni-vibe in a trade, so I google'd for reviews and found out about the TC Vicious Vibe. The specs alone make it seem a better candidate than the MXR, and it's cheaper too...

I won't argue with a Henderix nut when it comes to univibes, so I'll definitely keep my eyes open for a Vicous Vibe as soon as I cleared out a bunch of other peds...

Gotto pace myself a bit, my bank account is approaching the danger zone. Especially now that I scored... A TIMEBENDER :joy:

Because you -among others- raved about it btw. Even if I don't bonde with it completely, I'm pretty sure it'll be able to take my mind of my univibe GAS for a while :)
