Well shit, I bought one of those Gakkens too. $22 shipped why not? I might pick up some Rucci stuff too. Is it a standard CV? I might get a CV LittleBits unit and incorporate those for a sweet/cheap/forbabies semimodular setup!

I should add that littlebits are a ton of fun for around $150.

Seriously on the edge of impulse buying a Gakken, which I shouldn't--I've spent too much lately.

If you do iOS, look at SoundScaper. Seriously deep and awesome rabbit hole of glitchy droney circuit-bendy weirdness.

These, right?

I think I understand what a feedback loop does, but I want to make completely sure what I'm getting into before I buy it.
So I would not necessarily use the send/return jacks, correct? I'd only use them if I wanted an f/x loop with other pedals for my pedal board. For the feedback loop, I would need some sort of input though, It wouldn't create the sounds by themselves, right? But that input could also be as simple as a distortion/overdrive (something with gain) pedal with nothing plugged into its input ike nothing --> distortion pedal --> feedback loop --> amp? I mean, I'm 99% sure I'm going to order a gakken to use with it but it would be cool to create those sounds with nothing but a pedalboard.

Nope, you would to be using the send/returns....

What a feedback loop pedal does is create a feedback loop from the device(s) in it's effects loop (so whatever is in between the send and receive). It feeds the content of the loop back into itself - hence, a feedback loop.

Now depending on how the feedback loop pedal is designed, there may be other fun things to play with. Maybe a momentary switch - so a blast of feedback whenever you step on it. Or a clean blend - letting you blend your clean uneffected input signal with the output of the feedback loop. ETC.

A feedback loop will send a certain amount of the output of whatever is in the loop back into the input of the pedal. This can lead to all sorts of speaker blowing shenanigans.

Oh, I see. So I would basically just put my entire pedalboard into the send/return and then plug a guitar/gakken/keyboard/etc into the input and put the output into the amp?

Would it also be able to work without anything plugged into the input?

You'd run what ever you want in the loop - a pedal, multiple pedals, your entire board - as long as it has positive (or at least unity) gain.

It may/should work w/o an input. Will depend on the pedals in the loop. If you have something in the loop that will oscillate on it's own, then yeah, you shouldn't need an additional input source.

I know a lot of pedals wont turn on unless theres something plugged into the input, are feedback loopers usually not like that? I mean, worse comes to worse I plug a quarter inch cable in there with nothing on the other side, I'm just curious.

I don't know of any feedback looper that does this, as most of them are just passive devices requiring no power...
Maybe the Devi Ever TBD has one? But that one already has a fuzz circuit attached to it. Another option for a feedback loop is a realistic reverb unit. That has ultimately been my goto device for feedback loops...

RED GAKKEN KVLT.

Also, I fucked up. Anyone wanting to buy from that ebay seller should note that they have monotribe delays for $44US, not $56. 56 was the AU price after conversion.
