Ya I listened to the clips and really liked what I heard. Despite my criticisms, if it is around $150 or less then I'm going to buy one.

All of those clips save the last one are going into one of the Modern Orange heads I don't care about and copping the same kind of generic tones that have been beyond played out for nearly two decades at this point (Ohmaigawd it does Corrosion of Conformity and AC/DC I AM CREAMING MY JEANS). Seems entirely unessential to me, especially when you consider that the last clip sounds like dog dick.

A little harsh I think. I liked it. But to each their own. I'm sure someone out there will demo it with different gear and it'll sound different.

Re: New Orange pedal out
Rockerverb mkIII also to be released...
https://www.orangeamps.com/rockerverb-100-mkiii-head/
Celebrating its 10th Anniversary last year, the Rockerverb Series demonstrates better than anything else that a workhorse amp can be a master of all trades. The original Rockerverb was actually our first ever ‘high gain’ amplifier, with a unique voice that quickly became a firm favourite amongst the heavy crowd. However, its supreme versatility and dependability meant the series has been a mainstay for touring artists and session aces, both on the road and in the studio.
New for Spring 2015, the Rockerverb 100 MKIII head combines over a decade of user feedback with a number of new details and improvements. In a first for the Rockerverb Series, the MKIIIs include selectable output power options to manipulate headroom and volume, with the 100 Watt version switching down to 70, 50 or 30W. The MKIII also features the same footswitchable attenuator that has been so popular with users of our Thunderverb and Dual Dark Series amps.
The Clean channel has been revoiced on the new MKIIIs for a more ‘chimey’ response. The clean side now has even greater headroom than previous models, whilst still retaining the warmth and vintage character of a non-master volume design. Also, the valve driven spring reverb now has a more extensive range with a brighter trail. Add to this a host of other hidden refinements and you have the finest sounding and most feature-laden Rockerverb to date.

Wait. You expect me to go to the trouble of clicking a link... and then scrolling downjwar wrote:Seriously guys. Click the link and scroll down. LOL
before jumping to an opinion?
(EDIT: and then I had to click on the audio clips! That's two clicks and a scroll! I'm exhausted!)
Sounds too much like work to me.
But in all seriousness. The clips sound pretty good. The trouble sometimes comes when boring
riffs get clipped. Sometimes that's so distracting that it's hard to imagine how it will work with
my gear/aesthetic/etc.
But the real test is always in trying things in person.

Re: New Orange pedal out
So here's the thing -- the only clip that really interests me is the direct in, because it's the only real reason why anyone would want this pedal -- you can put pretty much anything in front of a rockerverb and it'll sound like a rockerverb: that was one of the big critiques of the line when it was originally launched, actually.jwar wrote:A little harsh I think. ...And the direct in sounds like a bad emulation of a 'modern' rock guitar amp. This is, perhaps, overambitious of me, because Orange the brand bears zero relationship to the original recording studio these days, but I have specific expectations of an Orange pre with a Bax EQ and this doesn't hold up, at all.

I thought the tone in clips 1-8 was pretty good despite the boring riffs, but yeah, that last clip was abysmal.D.o.S. wrote:So here's the thing -- the only clip that really interests me is the direct in, because it's the only real reason why anyone would want this pedal -- you can put pretty much anything in front of a rockerverb and it'll sound like a rockerverb: that was one of the big critiques of the line when it was originally launched, actually.jwar wrote:A little harsh I think. Still more interested in the BAT-designed DOD Boneshaker. Even more EQ and low end control, and way less ugly.

Don't hold your breath on that one. I found a preorder for 279£ which is like, what, $400?

the only thing that roll bar is going to do, is make it hard to hit the stomps and the BaxButtRockFont

agreed that the text looks royally shit. to my memory it's not even the regular orange thing as the last orange amp i had used the classic orange white on black sans serif text, above the symbols, clear and bold. but they should have done away with all the text and gone for the classic symbols. the symbols are perfect.Seance wrote:From an aesthetic standpoint:
What if the Orange symbols were printed on top of the knobs themselves?
Might make it feel less cluttered looking.
I agree that there are too many different fonts going on at the same time.
Feels like something made in Photoshop in 1991 back when everybody
was drunk with the power of having so many fonts at your fingertips.

re the chrome doorhandles, am guessing they are dual purpose. partly to stop you stamping on the controls and partly to make you think you are buying an amp not a glorified baxandall eq pedal for £300.zeravla wrote:Beasleyboy wrote:Despite my criticisms, if it is around $150 or less then I'm going to buy one.
