New Orange pedal & rockerverb mkII out

Post by Beasleyboy »

Heads up, new EQ/preamp pedal from Orange

https://www.orangeamps.com/bax-bangeetar/

Bax Bangeetar Guitar Pre-EQ

A serious box of tricks

For years, we’ve been hounded by our customers and retailers to make a pedal. It may have taken a while for us to join the pedal party but it had to be right, and for 2015 we’ve finally settled on a design of which we are truly proud. Introducing our first pedal since the 1960s – the Custom Shop Bax Bangeetar Guitar Pre-EQ.

As a traditional stompbox the Bax Bangeetar is in a class of its own, boasting a unique and hugely versatile gain structure with extensive EQ controls. Dial in an enormous range of overdriven and distorted tones, delivered with a feel and responsiveness rarely found in pedals. Beyond that, though, this preamp pedal is an invaluable tool, allowing you to tailor your tone to any setup with absolute precision via its parametric mid controls.

Rockerverb mkIII also to be released...

https://www.orangeamps.com/rockerverb-100-mkiii-head/

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary last year, the Rockerverb Series demonstrates better than anything else that a workhorse amp can be a master of all trades. The original Rockerverb was actually our first ever ‘high gain’ amplifier, with a unique voice that quickly became a firm favourite amongst the heavy crowd. However, its supreme versatility and dependability meant the series has been a mainstay for touring artists and session aces, both on the road and in the studio.

New for Spring 2015, the Rockerverb 100 MKIII head combines over a decade of user feedback with a number of new details and improvements. In a first for the Rockerverb Series, the MKIIIs include selectable output power options to manipulate headroom and volume, with the 100 Watt version switching down to 70, 50 or 30W. The MKIII also features the same footswitchable attenuator that has been so popular with users of our Thunderverb and Dual Dark Series amps.

The Clean channel has been revoiced on the new MKIIIs for a more ‘chimey’ response. The clean side now has even greater headroom than previous models, whilst still retaining the warmth and vintage character of a non-master volume design. Also, the valve driven spring reverb now has a more extensive range with a brighter trail. Add to this a host of other hidden refinements and you have the finest sounding and most feature-laden Rockerverb to date.

Find and eliminate problem frequencies in certain guitars and amps, shape broad mid ‘scoops’ or boost anywhere on the mid spectrum to suit any style. Plug straight into the front of an amp as a standalone drive pedal, or plug into the effects return to make the donor amp ‘disappear’! Whatever your rig, the possibilities are virtually limitless.

For even more flexibility, the second output takes your sound and passes it through our CabSim circuit, recreating the frequency response of a mic’d Orange 4×12” cab, ideal for direct recording or even connecting to a PA. Whether on stage or in the studio, the nature and scope of its controls mean there isn’t a situation where the Bax Bangeeter wouldn’t be welcome.

Yeah cool idea. Baxendall EQ with a boost and other tone shaping options. Would of been cooler though if it had a crunchy overdriven Orange amp sim in there too.
Edit: :picard: it does have a big gain stage. Was thinking of some other pedal I think. Been reading about and watching a lot of gear demos. They are all kind of blurring into each other.

Think I actually prefer the look of the white/cream one.
If only the other were inverted, with orange chassis/black knobs like the amps
B-but...those orange knobs are pretty damn sharp lookin :hobbes:

Wait a sec. The modern Orange company finally puts out a product with a Bax eq like are in the classic amps. And it's in a pedal. FFS.

looks like a pedal that someone not remotely related to Orange would design based on an Orange.

They could have done WAAAAAAAYYY better in the graphics department IMO.

Yup easily the ugliest Orange product ever. If it's not too expensive it could be cool for running the line out straight into my Sunn coliseum slave though...

Considering the fact that everyone and their mother has appropriated the 'Orange' font, I find it hilariously appropriate.

I'll judge h9w it sounds, but I am looking for a small box to replace my giant amp. But I'll probably end up going for the the rusty box to play both guitar and bass through. :idk:

I will revoice my complaint in the doom room here - that giant box and side mounted jacks.... orange amps, you crazy. I would laugh pretty hard if it was just a JFET conversion of an OR120 with a parametric mid control tacked on the end.

I am building the first version of a booster I designed that is sort of similar in idea to this though at the moment (just waiting on a PCB shipment)... basically a little bit of op-amp/LED grit, a baxandall tonestack with a mid boost switch, into a SHO-like booster. I just wanted a nice booster that has functional tone control. It can do the tubescreamer type sound, a full range flat boost with no dirt, treble boost, scooped and pretty raunchy, etc. I like the idea of a parametric mid control in addition to the bax stack though, might consider updating my booster to include something like that.

From an aesthetic standpoint:

What if the Orange symbols were printed on top of the knobs themselves?
Might make it feel less cluttered looking.

I agree that there are too many different fonts going on at the same time.
Feels like something made in Photoshop in 1991 back when everybody
was drunk with the power of having so many fonts at your fingertips.

Also... from a design standpoint, if it needs a roll-bar so you don't
crush the controls... maybe it isn't laid out in an optimal format?

But of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Howsit sound?
