Help with mounting a tricksy pedal to my PT Pro.

So my Dunlop Octavio has a funky bottom plate that's counter sunk into the upper body housing, so I cannot just velcro it to my pedal board like my other pedals with flat bottoms. I need to think of some way to make up the gap that won't damage the pedal.

My initial thought was actually to utilize the holes for the 4 screws you see there in the bottom of the pedal, get some longer screws with the same width/thread, and drill holes though my board to mount it. But that would be a total PITA since the pedal is battery powered, so screw that shit.

I need to make up the space between. I've done double velcro on one pedal before, but it was a lighter pedal and spread out over a larger foot print than is available on the bottom of the Octavio. It's a fairly large and heavy pedal (~6"x3"x2", and a couple lbs easy).

2nd thought was having someone machine a little plate to attach to it with the 4 screws which would not obstruct the battery compartment and I could put velcro there. I think it would suffice to hold it as long as it had a good bit of interlock with the velcro on my pedal board. Something to cover the entire area past the battery compartment so I could get a good bit of velcro on there. Lined with felt too so as not to fuck up mah sexy-classy pedal would be nice.

Any other less expensive easy to implement ideas that don't include wire ties, or some ugly ass obtrusive shit would be awesome.

Get two little pedal sized sheet metal pieces, metal pipe clamps, pop rivets, and a hinge. Flatten the pipe clamps with a hammer, then using a makeshift brake, bend them at a 90 degree angle. Screw them to the pedal using the side screws on the pedal (rubber washers to protect the paint). Pop rivet the brackets to the first sheet metal piece. Then pop rivet the hinge between the two slabs of sheet metal and put Velcro on the bottom side of the bottom piece. Now you can flip and change the battery without needing to unlock Velcro.

I usually just cut out some 3mm plywood and stick it to the bottom plate with super glue, then Velcro on the ply wood. Obviouslyi don't care about resale value.

It looks plush from that photo, just be selective and careful when you cut out your velcro.

Another thought, maybe a little less PITA, along similar lines - get longer screws, get two little bars of wood thick enough that you could countersink those screws down into the wood, screw the bars of wood to the bottom, and adhere the velcro to the wood. If you're using industrial strength velcro, two strips going across the full width of the pedal should be more than enough to hold it to the board.

Get some double sided adhesive squares from 3M to create a spacer then attach your velcro to that.

Free samples of shit from Home Depot is your friend. Check out the flooring department. Mount the pedal to the sample, mount the sample to your board.

Just stick some thick double sided tape (the white foam-y one) underneath and put your velcro on that? Should get you another 2-3mm without damaging the pedal

So apparently this thing is designed by an idiot. LOL. My suggestion? Tear the feet off, put velcro everywhere but where the batter snap is. OR put velcro on the snap but cut it to size. It ought to be that simple. Alternatively be creative with the way you place the velcro. Long small strips on the edges around the battery door.

Remove the battery snap and rubber feet.

kbithecrowing's 3M double-stick adhesive spacer idea is a good one. That should work.

If the screws aren't that high, velcro right on the enclosure should be fine.
