Re: swapping a latch footswitch for a momentary

Post by Dr. Sherman Sticks M.D. »

hey got another dumb question.

so i got these DPDT momentary switches. trying to figure out which lugs are connected when the switch is not pressed and when it is pressed.
i hooked up my DMM, connected the common black lead to the middle lug on the switch.
and connected the red lead to the top or bottom lug.
i have the DMM set to the resistance setting.

when i connect the red lead to the top, the DMM displays 1. when i connect it to the bottom lug the DMM displays 0.
i'm just a lil confused if 1 means the circuit is connected there or if 0 does?

thanks

You could throw it in an old lunchbox.
Or literally anything shielded on the inside and sturdy enough to get stepped on.

yea! i found this lying around my house. it was a passive summer that i never used, so i ripped out the guts and put my lil guy in there and threw on some stickers.

i also bought twice the parts including the enclosure that i bunked just in case but it was real tight in there, i think i have to rethink the layout orientations. vertical might be where its at.
