60's Guild Thunderbird S-200

Post by colin »

So there's a 60's Guild Thunderbird on my local CL, for a very reasonable price ($1100 Canadian). Pickups look to be non-original, but I figure that if I'm able to snag this I can hang on to it for a little while and then hopefully flip for a decent profit. I'm really not in the market for another guitar, but I can afford to buy it right now. Thoughts?

Here's the guitar in question:

:idk: Yeah, I've never pickups like that in a Thunderbird before.

I'd try to play it before buying. If you're not that into it, don't buy it just because you can afford it. Something better might come along.

Looks like no guitar for me, haven't heard back from the seller yet and the ad is gone. Oh well, I was just hoping to have a weirdo guitar for a bit and then hopefully flip for a profit.

I don`t think you can get much profit with it for this price. but it is still cool axe to have some fun, and I guess it will be easy to sell it because of that hype for Dan Auerbach`s guitars now :)

At that price you needed to be on it asap. The pickups were changed but originals can be found without too much trouble.
Oh well, I'm sure a guild fanatic scooped it up.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if someone offered more than the asking price. I also wouldn't be surprised if it pops back up on my local CL, or vintage guitar shop, with original pickups and a much higher price tag. That's what I was planning if I'd been able to snag it.
