Ah come on! I don't flip them before I get them! Ok, maybe twice, or three times? Fuck who knows. hahahaUgly Nora wrote:Curious, if you have a pedal today that you really like, and if you still had it several years down the line to the point where it was considered vintage do you think you would still like the pedal? If not, do you think it is because your taste changed or simply because it became "vintage" which is something you inherently hate?jwar wrote: Anything "vintage". Vintage to me equals boring as fuck. I've NEVER been interested in vintage shit. Especially when I builder clones a vintage circuit to the T and tries to make it look the same as the original. How fucking boring and lame.
I know this is a bit of an odd question especially since you sometimes flip pedals before you even receive them in the mail, but I am genuinely curious about stuff like this.
That's a very, very valid point. And I totally agree with what you're pointing out.
Me personally though, as the years go on and things progress, I'll upgrade or switch out everything. Regardless of what I love now. Why? Because new and more innovative things are built all the time. Sure you can't re-invent the wheel, but you can sure improve the hell out of it.
For example. The TAFM. I like the newer version because to me they have been tweaked over the years for the better. Does that mean the old ones are horrible? No, but I certainly wouldn't want one anymore with a new on the market.
I've NEVER been a vintage guy. Not for cars, books, movies or anything thing. I like advances and new things. I'm a whore. A total whore.
Another example is Vintage instruments. I've owned 70's, 80's, 90 and 2000's basses. I fucking HATE the 70's instruments. They play and sound like shit IMO. Same with the 80's minus a few select brands. The 90 were good, the 2000's are even better.
Maybe I'm just a weird person? I don't know.
