I would nyx the Aenima and ECT suggestions. Both are great but can/will feedback like a mother fucker.

When I think of tight muffs....

Actually, the Skreddy Ernie exemplifies what I think of as "tight" in a fuzz. Super note definition. Power chords really have a ton of "punch" to them.

Also, the Zoom Ultra Fuzz can be dialed in pretty tight too.

what should I be looking at?
Does the Arc Effects Crimson King fall into this family?
probably not a fuzz factory right? what about a fat fuzz factory? any different?

I guess I'm looking for something bright that you strum and when you stop it there's not a lot of bleed - if that makes sense...

would love to here what the gentleman/ladies here have to direct me towards!
fuzz god II from red witch fits your description
This. Also, though in a different sorta way: Elements.

You might want to swap out the Rat then; that mid-range hump is sort of its "thing". I found the Arc Flash to cover almost the same ground but without that high-mid hump. And you can get an oscillating version...

Hmmm. I have an Arc Flash. I like it, but it doesn't have the same attack that a rat-fuzz does. Maybe I'll fuck with it.

On the Fairfield side, I think the Four Eyes would fit more with his description since it's a crossover distortion.
It could be tight... but it could be all weird too.
