I got a used DS-1 from a friend of mine a few months ago, and as I'm very new to the world of guitar and effects, it was my first pedal. For a thirty dollar pedal, I was satisfied with it. After trying a few other distortions and fuzzes at the local guitar shop, though, I was feeling pretty bored with it. However, after picking up a variable-voltage transformer, the thing took on a new light: at 15 volts, with the distortion all the way up and the tone at 10:00, the thing sounds amazing. Likewise, with the distortion at 9:00, the tone maxed, and running at 3 volts, it sounds like some boutique overdrive. So, my question: is the humble DS-1 a blasphemy, or can creative uses save it from itself? :picard:

If it sounds good it is good. :omg:

I have a friend who works at Skywalker sound. He's a sound designer, and his chief method of sound creation is a Synclavier and an ancient Eventide rack unit, just to give you an example of what kind of gear they use. In the orchestra tracking room, which is ENORMOUS and contains one of the hugest Neve boards on Earth, they use Behringers for headphone mixes, and ignore the rackful of Avalon compressors in favor of a dbx.

Their motto is, of course, the one stated above. I still died a little inside to see all that amazing old gear going to waste... they had EVERYTHING! A huge Moog Modular, old Eventide Harmonizers, it was crazy. :whateva:
I want a giant bunny and I want a bunch of regular bunnies and they will form a hive mind and the giant bunny will be the queen bunny and they will attack in swarms.
