Sounds cool, I got the Cosmichorus on a second-hand-need-to-sell-pedals-for-taxes-quickly thread so even re-upgraded it'll be cheaper than that dudes one on eBay.

Hey guys,

There is in fact a recent change to the Cosmichorus circuit... sorry for not posting about it sooner, I had been meaning to lately.

I added a compander chip to the circuit so I could make the chorus signal clearer and brighter. It gave the chorus signal more tonal control with the treble knob and allowed me to push the circuit much harder without all the background hiss. So now it can do very clean and clear subtle vibrato all the way to really weird pitch bending. I extended the speed range a bit too so this version goes even slower and faster.

It still has all the same controls but one thing does work differently now... the volume control no longer affects the whole signal, now it only controls the wet signal. The dry signal stays fixed at unity gain and you use the mix and volume controls to dial in the chorus signal.

I'll of course do upgrades for you guys with 5 knob versions for just the price of return shipping, $10 or $25 depending on what shipping service you want. Just let me know if you're interested in that, ryan@drscientist.ca.

I think the pedal is set up really well now... I thought it was before too but the chorus tone was still on the dark/murky side. Ultimately my goal is a clear and bright chorus tone that can be made very dark or very bright, a full range of chorus effect from very subtle to very weird, no volume drop, barely any background hiss, wide range of speed, and no alteration of the dry signal. And I really think every goal has been accomplished!

Here's a picture of the new pcb, for reference:

I kinda wanted to get another pedal at the same time though. Maybe if I can sell off a few pedals :wow what a fantastic idea you have there:

Hey OB!

Howsabout you shoot me an email, ryan@drscientist.ca, and we'll take it from there? I'd rather make you a new pedal than do an upgrade on an older model as it takes me over 2 hours to do the change. (It requires taking the whole works out of the pedal, making a brand new pcb, then basically rebuilding the pedal from scratch.) And I'm not sure just yet what stores are up next for January.. I'm out of the loop after a bit of a break!

Really cool that you're in Montreal, I don't think I knew that... mon Canadienne frere!

it's pretty jarring you're even willing to update peoples pedals considering the amount of work involved!

now the waiting time. definitely worth the wait considering i get my pick of the finishes. :)
thanks ryan!

I'll definitely be picking up one of these and a Sunny Day Delay, although not for a while because my cash flow is dreadful being a jobless teen. Really love your work Ryan! :)
I'll be back in here eventually asking about shipments so I can be sure to get once I've done the obligatory saving up :thumb:
