Re: Tremolo talk
I like to have a tremolo on the board. My favorite that I've had is the Lovepedal Babyface, surprisingly. Simple, useable waveforms. The reason I haven't stuck with it is not having a depth knob on top blows. So it goes. I just found a v1 tremolessence that should be here this week. A lot simpler than normal tremolessence. I don't like complicated tremolo I guess. But I also want more than one waveform

I love tremolo a lot. Had a guyatone micro trem, it sounded good but had a volume drop. Also not very versatile.
Got a BBE tremor and I love it. Dual tremolo speeds selectable by stomp switch and very broad depth range. Goes from subtle to choppy. Very versatile. No volume drop and sounds really nice. Clean or dirty. Not a small footprint but not a huge one either. Good value for money too.

I have the stutterbox. It's a real nice tremolo with a lot of options (tap tempo, 8 different rhythm options, 3 waveforms). The tone and gain controls are a nice addition, making it very usefull with a feedback looper. You can even use it as a clean boost. But it is very pricey, if I didn't find a good deal on a used one I probably wouldn't have it.

Yeh and I feel like to have all those options but no presets is kind of a bummerfelix ennui wrote:I have the stutterbox. Kinda sidetracking but that's one of the reasons why I got rid of my particle

Re: Tremolo talk
I love it, but like someone else said I find it hard to use myself, no idea why. Got one them diy tap tempo jobs on the way from skulls though so that should do me. I'll try and make it work this time, maybe tap tempo will help.

I don't know what it is but I can't help but think fuck tap tempo anything
I just never use it. I like to throw my tremolo before a delay and just have all the sounds bounce off each in a jumbled mess.
Tremolo to me is like sprinkles on the cake. Or the thin layer of icing in the middle...

Re: Tremolo talk
I've been using the Cusack Tap-a-Whirl on keyboards after a lot of delay. Max tweakability and a lot of patterns to choose from. I tried the Boss Slicer and it just didn't play nice with my other gear. I like to set up drones and textures and let the trem make pulsing or chopped rhythms. Oddly enough the other trem that has stuck with me is the Line 6 Tap Tremolo. It's simple, versatile and sounds really nice even though I hate the enclosure.

I like this as well. I love the sound of Randy's Revenge (or any ring mod for that matter) set to tremolo into a delay. Add some glitchy octave down at the beginning of the chain for extra awesomeness.Casavettes wrote:... Re: Tremolo talk
I get where you're coming from. I'm not big on tap tempo with delay, let the notes fall where they may (unless you want to do the edge thing which sometimes is just the best). But I like rhythmic tremolo much more. For context, the thing I'm most excited about doing is to set the trem super deep, octave down fuzz, into an envelope filter for fucking huge synth bass. I feel like it being in time helps with that.Casavettes wrote:I don't know what it is but I can't help but think fuck tap tempo anything

I like to run some thick reverb into a nice square wave trem. It's like trying to cut water with a knife or something, really enhances the chop.

Re: Tremolo talk
Tremolo speaks to me on deep level, like biological or something. I had trem built into my Meatsmoke amp and that is what I have been using mostly since I got it.
I don't understand how someone can't like tremolo.Listen to this toan. Hypnotic.

Yeah that was nice Nora. It's about the dirty decay fading in an out. Try a fingerprint or other gritty drive through a trem and it's just the sweetest tone. Yeah tremolo rules.

Re: Tremolo talk
I had a tremolo boner for a while. I tried the Stutterbox but even though it's awesome I just couldn't mesh with it. I've got a Tap A Whirl now. It has so many options it's insane. The presets come in handy with everything going on, plus it can do stereo (with TRS cable). It's got a reverse sawtooth wave and I've got a Vox Repeater clone coming so I can compare them. Still though for the absolute best most lush tremolo sound I end up gravitating to my Randy's Revenge. It sounds so much more organic than any tremolo pedal I've encountered.

Re: Tremolo talk
I enjoyed the Tap-a-Whirl a lot. Being able to slow down and speed on a footswitch was super rad, but it was just too much stuff.
I'd like to try the Wampler Latitude.
Based on demos, I really like the trem-ish sounds that the Moog MF-102 will pull.
