I think they look cool. The most comfortable shape I've ever played is a plain-ass stratocaster shape; I just think they're boring to look at. Also, I'm pretty sure John Dyer Baizley played/plays an S300.

There's a '62 Starfire II in a local shop. Wishing I had $1500.

Good to know. I suspect that if I can find a reasonably priced S300 to take the dive on, I won't have had the chance to play one.

i was trying to buy an s300d a couple of years ago from a friend, but my money didn't ever work out. it's weird, but looked cool in person and played fucking fantastically. i still wish i could buy one. they're awesome. my first guitar was a 70's guild. whatever their sg copy was. i got it for $25 at an army surplus store. i was young and stupid and the internet wasn't around so i sold it for $30 a year or two later because i didn't have any idea how awesome it really was (i hadn't played any other guitars really) or what it was worth. i thought i was smart for making $5. it's almost 25 years later and the fucking thing is still probably the coolest guitar i've ever had. i'd fucking kill to get it back, except that i know it was eventually destroyed by an angrier and stupider youth than myself.

An that's a terrible story! I always wanted one of those, but in Australia they were basically unobtanium.
