Not knowing shit about the guts of amps....would a Deville take those? I'm assuming they'd help with the low end of the spectrum?

I know that 410 can be a common bass speaker setup, and I have a friend who used to play through a 410 and a 115 with his bass. So getting an extension would definitely be the cheapest option, but I just wonder about the actual amp generating the tones I probably will need. It does basically need to cover the lower end of the guitar range, AND the bass range, if need be.
If it does take KT88's, do it. I'm under the impression that you would have to rebias the amp though. I'm running a bass through a V2 loaded with KT88's and its pretty bad ass with a 2x15 bass cab. I probably never would have discovered how awesome this set up is if it weren't for this forum :joy:

Mmm, good point about open vs closed backs. . . Guess I'll have to decide about keeping the amp and altering it or trading it out

You could also try an EQ, and see if that gets you what you want, before you completely reconfigure your rig.. You may be after more low mids and tighter low frequencies.

I'll play with it. I don't know if I described it right in my previous post... When I play the amp at polite, apartment-style volumes, and use a mic, it gets plenty of bass. But when I turn it up to show volumes, and go to hit a low note, it just doesn't have enough depth or balls to it. Maybe the bass is actually there, but I guess I want more. MOAR BASS!!!!

I should note that it looks like I shouldn't mess with trying to put KT88s in the Deville......

4x10 at non-room volumes do exactly what you describe, open or closed back IME.

On bass I associate the 4x10 with plinky plinky fusion stuff.

Well that looks pretty tits, I must say

Edit: after a quick phone google I'm finding that that head is about the same value as my current amp. . .

Yeah I want to say a bass cab with 12s or 15s is probably what you should get

So I definitely need the bass tones, but having never played through 15s, will they carry the higher guitar tones well? I'm sure some amount of EQing will go into it...

15s work just fine with guitar.

Used a 1x15 on a Bassman for mostly guitar for years, loved it.
