I do like learning about complicated setups but prefer using simple ones, myself otherwise they get in my overthinking way :whoa:
Killer flowchart, Glen...that's really taking it up a level!

I also doodle, and write or type out signal chains from previous trial & error...as well as make notes on combinations to try.
Kind of like keeping a journal, but there's no real regimen and sometimes things change a half dozen times in a month, or go unchanged for months. The former being more common than the latter

Anyway, my layout/routing is finalized with me staring at the board and my pedals; daydreaming a bit and shuffling pieces around while trying to optimize real estate/maximize access...buffer placement...and minimize length/strain on cables. It's like a game of tetris or a brain teaser...where the goal is sounding good and doing more with less to get there.
[B/S/T shoutouts] Shortlist: Hollow Earth|Ct5|856|Condor|Thermae|OP-1|half track reel2reel|Prophet6 ... :whoa:

I'm very familiar with layout drawings/plans. I also document power requirements on said drawings to ensure my supplies are capable of whatever layout I'm tinkering with. I used to think of that as actual fun ha! and got pretty obsessed with it but trying to loosen up on that front now days and just play more with my spare time using a few pedals around the house. Those planning diagrams just ate up way too much time and thought but I've gotta get back at it soon to finish my dual board stereo setup. Ugh.

Stalking not. You flatter yourself. Mere powers of observation.

I found this pic from back then:

I need to do some drawings for the pedz I'm trying to sync, it really helps.

:thumb: Solid! I like the idea of using my comp to diagram these things but it's just so much more fun to take out the old sketchbook and put pen to paper. I think it's a throwback to my art school days and a rejection of how much I have to use my comp/phone in everyday life...

That or I was tipsy. :idk:

You should go by the amount of components in each pedal starting with the highest :thumb:

That was 13 months ago when i planned to put a second JamMan looper on my board.
Right now it looks like this (haven't updated the layout scheme yet - no need on my side):
