Killer flowchart, Glen...that's really taking it up a level!
I also doodle, and write or type out signal chains from previous trial & error...as well as make notes on combinations to try.
Kind of like keeping a journal, but there's no real regimen and sometimes things change a half dozen times in a month, or go unchanged for months. The former being more common than the latter
Anyway, my layout/routing is finalized with me staring at the board and my pedals; daydreaming a bit and shuffling pieces around while trying to optimize real estate/maximize access...buffer placement...and minimize length/strain on cables. It's like a game of tetris or a brain teaser...where the goal is sounding good and doing more with less to get there.
Solid! I like the idea of using my comp to diagram these things but it's just so much more fun to take out the old sketchbook and put pen to paper. I think it's a throwback to my art school days and a rejection of how much I have to use my comp/phone in everyday life...
