Brent Hinds gets a new EGC V every few months it seems. That doesn't bother me, totally get it from a business/marketing perspective. I don't think you'd find many builders, guitar/pedal/amp/whatever, that wouldn't prioritize in the exact same fashion.
Eh i dont know about this man. I mean i think obviously they rush high profile clients guitars but not many builders do it to such a level that its downright disrespectful to their clients. The way i see it is this: if i were a builder, rockstars would be great, but I would be much more honored when i got an order from a regular working class guy.
When people who dont necessarily have the money to order a new axe every month (or may only have the chance once in a lifetime) they tend to do alot more homework and agonizing and comparing and, in the end, do alot more old fashioned work before they plunk down the change on a custom. If somebody told me "I poured months of my life working my ass off scrimping and saving to get this money, and I feel like you can turn out a product of an equal value to the time and energy i expended to pay you" theres no way in FUCK I could live with myself giving them some bullshit date, taking down their specs halfassed and then taking their money knowing full well i was going to build their guitar whenever i damn well felt like it.
Theres only one way people get that kind of mindset, its from never having to work for a living. I may just be a young guy but ive spent years in factories and warehouses. Believe me when i say coming home and not being able to sleep because youre in so much pain from standing in one spot on a concrete floor for 12-13 hours changes the way you see things. Theres been times where id get home from work and take off my socks to bloody raw toes from walking up and down catwalks in steel toes. I dont know about cooler states but when its 102 in a factory and youre rushing to keep an expansion mould loaded the swampass can get so bad you have to go to the doctor.
Theres just no way, having worked as hard as i have, that somebody who works for a living could hand me a couple grand with the belief that what i was making, something thats not a necessity, was worth what they had to go through to earn and save that couple grand, and then treat them like joe fucking blow because some drugged out alchy piece of shit thats been on the cover of decibel just got his royalty check. That kind of thing is fucking despicable to me.
