After the last thread how could you expect anything else? At this rate the conclusion will end up being a Fender Mustang or something wildly different than was originally described.

Hey, that's probably true, but you can't fault a man (or woman) for having strong preconceptions about gear. We all do to some extent.
We also all solicit opinions about stuff to try out. Some of us are just more gracious about it than others.

This thread directed me to Suhr Badger 18, and -like I said before- it is exactly what I was looking for:

I also found it and said that on page 2! The reason page 3 exists as it does is because I responded negatively to some suggestions that didn't interest me at all.
It's not a personal assault that I didn't respond well to the VHT, I just don't want it, okay? It's just gear, don't take it so personally. If I don't want it, I don't want it. I heard clips, it didn't interest me. I read the specs, it didn't interest me. Same goes for the Kustom, nothing personal, just not my bag. I gave the suggestions the respect they deserved by researching them (after I found the amp I was actually interested in nonetheless), and I didn't like what I found.
I'm sorry if I offended the forum, and that I'm such a terrible person for liking what I like.
As of right now though, I am stuck between either the Badger and the Dr Z Monza. The latter has been on my mind for a while now due to the simplicity.

Dude's pissed. It's cool brah. No beef. I am just of the "try a bunch of shit until you figure out what works for you " mindset. Costly and irritating, for sure. But it's a good learning experience anyway.
On the real the Suhr seems like the right choice, and I am jealous as I would love to try one someday.

Sorry, I responded the way I did. I had to put my foot down to try and knock this thread back on track.
The thing is that I cannot find very much personal experience with the Monza as far as what I would use it for. It is the only other amp that not only costs less than the Suhr but can also -on paper at least- do the same things I like the Badger for.
The problem is that most Dr. Z users either play clean bar band blues or dirty SRV blues and that is not at all what I am looking to play. It is hard to find clips that stray from those two paradigms.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I've owned a few higher end amps and they were all gambles since they were definite blues lawyer lead amps, and I am more of a rhythm and I guess ambient player, but have champagne tastes I guess. Sold every one of those amps and now know that no matter how alluring, I need to play first.
You may want to check out the Reason Bambino and Bambino Grande too, they are both switchable watt amps with a neat looking Stack feature.

That looks more to my taste, I will check them out.
The good thing is that they apparently have them in stock at truetone music (which apparently also has a Monza in stock).
Ironically enough, with how the Bambino grande is priced, it becomes a direct competitor to the Monza.

After hearing some clips of the Bambino, I am starting to think it may do what I am looking for. Most interestingly, if I get the smaller 8watt version I can use the line out to patch into my bigger amp for bigger gigs. Not to mention how much cheaper it is than the Suhr. Hell with the money I save I can get this 90's ESP MIJ Strat I have had my eyes on.
Let's hope I like it!
See, this is why I come here: sure I might piss off a bunch of people, but in the end, I get results.
