Sorry if this is old news. I found out about the auto-wah a couple years ago from experimenting with settings and finally got around to trying the other models . Anyway, here it is:For Auto Wah:
Select the Sweep Echo model and set the controls as follows:
Delay Time-0
Repeats-0
Tweak and Tweez can be adjusted to taste but the best results occur with both around Noon
Mix-100% wet
You now have a nice sounding auto-wah/envelope filter effect. Basically it uses the "sweep" part of the sweep echo without the echo.
The same control settings (give or take on Tweak and Tweez) can be used for other effects
For Chorus: Use the Analog w/mod or Digital w/mod and set as above
For Ring Modulator: Use the Reverse Delay setting...
For a Slow Gear type of effect: Swell...
You can even get a good FUZZ tone, similar to a Colorsound (with an od pedal before the DL4): -To achieve this, run an od pedal with moderate gain into the DL4, and then dial in a slightly crunched out rhythm sound on your amp, sorta semi clean, but a bit dirty (in my case, it's RHY 2 on the MarkIV) and then use the Tube Echo model on the DL4 with the same settings as the others, or you can add a bit of delay time for a very short slapback delay. This gets that stinging, messy, falling-apart fuzz tone, as the tweak and tweez controls add a sort of treble boost that drives the amp hard. Combined with the overdrive before the DL4, this sounds like sex.
You get the picture. Try each model with these control settings. They all have a cool "hidden" effect or eq setting that can be used. Best part is that they can be saved as presets! (I'll update with a quick demo when I find the time)
