well, the question was "favorite." if the question had been "greatest," half of my people wouldn't have been on and Joni Mitchell and Carole King (for her Brill Building stuff rather than the singer-songwriter stuff) would at least have been shortlisted. but Eno, Moz, and Albarn make me LMAO. i love Joan, but Moz makes me laugh, and everybody knows that's the key to a lasting relationship.

Yoni Wolf (of Why?)
"In Berlin I saw two men fuck in a dark corner of a basketball court / Just the slight jingle of pocket change pulsing"

Los Campesinos
"I think we need more post-coital and less post-rock / Feels like the build-up takes forever but you never get me off"

Emily Haines (solo/& the Soft Skeletons/Metric)
"If you find me, hide me, I don't know where I've been
When you phone me tell me everything I did
If I'm sorry you lost me you'd better make it quick
Cause this call costs a fortune and it's late where you live"

Tom Waits
Do we really need an example?

Wesley Willis
just YouTube him if you don't know.

Honorable mentions:
Natasha Kahn (of Bat for Lashes), Yeasayer, Lou Reed, Lil' Wayne (for real), Sage Francis

I would say "Sunflowers" is Low's perfect song, but I'm not sure if he writes them all or what.
