Favorite Lyricist of All Time
Saw the most favorite guitarist thread and thought id start this one. So who do you believe writes the greatest lyrics of them all? My pick is of course Jesse Lacey followed by Chino Moreno. The way they write and the weirdness they produce is just incredible.
Heavenly sounds, grating gates; driving cars through surreal fates.

Not really, this sort of thing is all subjective and I'm not a huge fan.
Nick Cave, Craig Finn, Morrissey and Tom Waits are my favourites.

Oh my God, yes I did.
Dan Smith during a Listener set wrote:This next song is called "You were a house on fire" and it's about being a house on fire. The first line is "You were a house on fire," so, you know, just to get your toes wet on that one.
I love that man.

95% of all lyrics read like shit. It's all about the delivery and the execution as far as selling it goes.
I can't really think of a single lyricist who's stuff I stand behind 100% when it's just words on paper.
