Colorsound 'Bass Fuzz' - good god!

Post by sev »

After years of curious gas for the Colorsound Bass Fuzz, I had a chance to grab one, so I gambled. Good god :!!!:
Apparently, the circuit is based on the Supa Tonebender....which in turn is based somewhat on a Big Muff.

I didn't think I'd find anything I like better on bass than the Bluebeard Fuzz.....but, the Colorsound just kicked the door in.
It pumps out an obscene amount of low end underneath a thick, smooth, muff like tone. And your playing stays articulate, without weird fuzz artifacts jumping out at random.

AND, on guitar? Think something like a Green Russian Big Muff with more gain and sustain for days...or maybe a Soda Meiser but with a gang of low end. Thick, sparkly, and super smooooooth.....total Pumpkins land.

Anybody else rocking one of these?

I had one. Fucking incredible. The size was the only turn off for me. If it woulda been in a Blue Beard sized enclosure I'd probably still have it.

Yeah....the thing is huge. Bigger than a big box Big Muff!

Just so I can get off the interwebz and back to work I'll do 10 but that's only after someone else has verified the proto as badass.
I have no experience with hearing one of these and I was about to just order a bunch of Fairchild bc549c's but imma have to do some research but this is awesome cause my new years resolution is to not buy any gear I couldn't make myself (or wouldn't like the mountainking stuff is original so I won't even gut shot it) And while this will take time it's one half of a one percent of the time I've spent the last year stalking bst threads for G&L parts and pedals that go boom.

Also if someone else wants to build these or has already built them feel free to jump in.
I just had a rough day and this makes happy faces for me.
