The new Superdrag, Industry Giants. I was a little hesitant... but so far, I'm halfway in and I'm in LOOOOOOOOOOOVE (again)!

The last one, Last Call for Vitriol, was such a mixed bag for me - it really felt that they were grasping at straws, trying to find one song that would prolong their career. But this new one (with the original lineup, go figure) just sounds so... right. Jangle meets wall of shoegaze guitars with good pop songwriting, and so far not any overtly Christian lyrics (the singer is born again, and from what I understand, much of his solo stuff is pretty Jesus-y) (not, I should emphasize, that there's anything wrong with that if that's what you're into... I'm just personally not).

SO back to topic: YAY! I loves me some Superdrag (again)!

EDIT: whoops! Found the Christian lyrics! Well, it's not all over the place... and the tunes are still good... ah well...

Whaaaaaaa? New Superdrag?!? I've got to get on that!

Had the same feelings toward Last Call For Vitriol as you did. However, I think In The Valley Of Dying Stars is a power pop masterpiece. That album is crazy overlooked.

Oh... my... gawd. In The Valley of Dying Stars is one of my favorite albums period, hard stop. Somewhere in the top whatever albums thread, you should find it in my top whatever albums list.

Not to overshare, but that album came along at a point in my life when I really didn't know how I felt about making music anymore. "Keep It Close to Me" summarized so much of what was going on in my own head... in fact, that's one of the few albums left that I will consistently sing along to, as loud as possible, alone in my car. I have been known to drive around the block a couple of times until the particular song I'm on is finally over, because I don't want to cut it off in the middle.

Anyhow, Industry Giants is not Dying Stars, pt 2 for me. But it does kick serious ass. The first song made me dance around the kitched like a lunatic with my son when I put it on today. So that's something!
