I'm thinking either both circuits as is in parallel with a buffered blend on the input...OR...maybe run the LM386 dirt up front and a splitter/blender into octave up and octave down portions. It's gonna take some 'sperimentin'

I have no idea what it would sound like in series, but I imagine it might be kinda nasty (not in the good way).
