Their solid state stuff sucks and their tube stuff is way outta his (and my) range. But I do too.

I got a V4b in excellent condition for $550 last year.

Also, I played through a few of these older-looking units sporting what appeared to be a VU Meter and a simple large-slider-equipped graphic EQ. No idea what brand/model. They were pretty neat - if you see something like that, try it out.

I can second that V4 recommendation, they sort of slipped my mind.

Hartke 3500

p much the blueprint for the perfect bass head.

hartke makes quality stuff, and i think Larry still does the "call me any time to talk about stuff" thing which was pretty cool. real nice guy, i called him before i bought my Hartke.

I've got a now discontinued Hughes & Kettner Quantum 600 head. Also, a Laney Klipp 100, which is my age. Both amps are nothing short of awesome.
