Bass amp heads

Post by Minty Phresh »

Hey, I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I really need an amp head, I don't know any of the specifics for this head, but it needs to be loud, and somewhat affordable, like 400-500
Any reply is most appreciated
Thanks

Find a used ashdown ABM EVO head. I got mine for $450, and it's loud as hell. Great tones too. Can't recommend highly enough.

Buy a Tronograpic Rusty Box and find a cheap 200w power amp on CL. BOOM instant amazing amp with room to grow. Need more power? Bigger power amp! More cabs!

They can be had for very cheap, I got mine for $250 shipped but I know they can go for 150-200. Easy to get loud and nicely tweakable but if you're looking for any kind of dirt, you're gonna have to provide that with a pedal.

Their solid state stuff sucks and their tube stuff is way outta his (and my) range. But I do too.

That Hartke is dah tits. But not all of their stuff is so beware. I'd suggest looking into a used Genz Benz Shuttle 6 head too. If you're running an efficient 4ohm cab it will amaze you with tone and volume.

I saw this picture of Hendrix, all he used was a wah.... And not even the Jim Dunlop Jimi Hedrix wah, just some old thing.....
Jimi didn't realise the horrible tone suck we had to listen to every time he used that wah.

I think GK has some of the best bangs for buck for flexibility and performance. The 1001RB-II will make an 8x10 roar if desired and can be found nicely used in your price range.
There is a character limit.

I, too, will get behind this. I have the HA2000 and it's a dec amp, for sure.
It was my main jams until I got my Mesa.
