Have you ever completely "regenerated" your pedalboard?

Well I thought I had completed my first full board, but then I realized that Target sells pedals for $30 and that I had a $30 gift card. Now I'm getting a cheap Behringer muff clone in the mail next week. (nobody uses this dude anymore)

I could see myself replacing the majority of my pedals, the only exception being my Tokai Flanger. I'd probably never find another one of those again. The rest of my pedals are pretty typical(crybaby wah, ibanez tubescreamer), so I plan to swap them for more interesting things in the future. First two on my list are a Dwarfcraft Shiva and HAX ring mod. Alas, I have no money, no job, and am supposed to be making money to finish college, so there's no hopes for new pedals my future. I'm happy with what I've got right now though, not to mention I just got a new jazzmaster which makes me go

I have flipped 3 full boards now.

I think about flipping all the time but in the last 4 months I have been very good about not compulsively selling my entire collection and restarting which I have done.

My first string was Memory Boy, Swollen Pickle, a custom formel chorus Pork Loin, and Deluxe Memory Man with Hazari.
Then and Devi Shoe Gazer Anemia and a custom twin
Then I got bit with gas so badly that I sold everything down to the tuner and re built

second string was 2 loopers (boss RC2 and RC20 sold one and re bought one) Dwarfcraft Shiva, Melx2, MXR Chorus, Dwarfcraft BIT mangler, Dwarfcraft ECT, MXR Carbon Copy, Deluxe Memory Boy......

Out of all of that flipping I never really spent any good time with any one pedal.

My 3rd board has had pedals that I really enjoy, the newest addition of the Dr Scientist SDD and a tremelo I have bought a lot less frequently and have only done some trading to try out a few fuzzes that I wanted to try.

So in short all the time. But I am acting a lot less on impulse.

Always in the process of regeneration. Since there was a new army of delays at NAMM that aren't TOO far from release, I'm thinking there's going to be even more change. Also, overdrive and fuzz are always getting swapped in and out but I'm too much of a hoarder to part with them.

i'm always in a constant motion. i have needs and comfort zones that i feel comfortable in.
those being:
2 delays
wah
oct
envelope filter
trem
volume
3 fuzz's
1 overdrive/distortion
2 wild cards for whatever avenue i'm exploring at the moment be it reverb, talk box....whatever.

i always seem to have around 12 pedals.

Hey, MaxMaps, thats what i'm talking about the thing is i don't have anything i wouldn't miss except for the fuzz factory clone painted by my girlfriend so that won't get sold EVER but soundwise, i think i can replace everything

i think about pedals as my hobby and i just love experimenting with different stuff, exploring... i don't know why i'm thinking about this when i'm really happy with everything except the RV-3 that is replaced probably tomorrow... but i am

i did my math and found out after the sale i'd have about a grand. that's not bad!

i have to say... those pedals that i'm thinking about the most are my SMMH and the Tap Tremolo prototype. One of them is THE favourite delay of mine and the other one is complex and i use one sound out of it that doesn't make sense... but i think i'll flip them

Nope. I have 3-4 spots that could be swapped for something new, or something random I am trying at the time. Nothing currently in those spots is irreplaceable. The rest, core if you will, aren't going anywhere.

hmm, i'm thinking since 5 years about getting one or two new boards. On my old one things change very slowly and the varidrive is there since 2005. So no, never complete new setup yet.

I'm slowly changing stuff out now, but I'm not sure there's much else I could ever really need now.

Personally I never sell gear, with the thought why sell it, I might need it sometime, So I will always have some pedals on my board, like my Boss oc-2 is always on board.. But there are pedals collecting dust, but I don't think they would have much of a value when I want to traden them

Oh yes. I've totally replaced my board 2 or 3 times. There are a couple mainstays that I re-buy every now and then...I think I've bought 4-5 Muff Fuzz / Double Muff OD variants...at least two SMMHs...

I got the pedal bug about 3 years ago and added a few casually here and there. From that first wave they are ALL flipped and re-"invested" except for the Whetstone Phaser....... Carbon Copy, Swollen Pickle, Muff reissue, the original reverb, a 616, all flipped for other pedals or to fund a down payment on my guitar....... Now I'm totally happy with everything on my board but I'd like to add another fuzz or three (that's a want, not a need), another overdrive and maybe some more modulation stuff (another delay, a Phase 90 or clone for simple phasing stuff and a flanger)...... originally the plan was that my wife and I were going to buy a fully detached house but we've decided to move closer to downtown and will probably wind up in a semi-detached at best, so originally I was planning to have a jam space in my basement and give up my jam room I share with some other bands, but probably won't happen so I'd like to have a small amp and a few things at home to mess around with for recording...... so I kind of wish I didn't sell the delays.......

BUT since I am buying a house of course I'll hardly have money for pedals for a long, long while.......

Haven't thought about it, but then I don't have to sell gear before I can buy something new. Which is good because I like having variety and so far everything gets used at some point, even if it's only in the loop of a chk chk boom.

Could I replace everything? Probably, there's so many quality builders out there offering cool stuff that it's not impossible to do. But I have little interest in it. I love delay but getting my Ghost Disaster has cured any lingering delay GAS. That Namm thread with the Malekko 919 and Strymon Timeline should've had me all but now it's which is a good thing. I can just jump on any cool new stuff the ILF builders come up with like the deluxe Clean Chan/Dirty Chan.
