Have you ever completely "regenerated" your pedalboard?

Post by DarkAxel »

The titel is clear... have you ever done that? or are you thinking about that?

look at your pedalboard... could you push yourselves to replace EVERYTHING with something different? :)

I do think about it, but have yet to act on it. I did go through a big sale recently and that made my board a lot smaller...but things remain. I don't know!

conceivably. but since i just finished my pedalboard after fucking with it for 4 months, i believe i'll enjoy it for a few weeks before messing with it. i can see changing some of the fuzz/distortion, though...i have three or four silicon-transistor boxes that are a bit redundant at certain gain levels.

I have a HOG, so... no.

i currently have an outdated digitech and an algal bloom.

Isn't that what those weird tourbox's are for? You know the one's where a box full of pedals is shipped around for people to try out, if they like a pedal in the box they can keep it so long as they replace it with a pedal of equal value.

And yeah, I think about this all the time.

right now i'm replacing the RV-3 and i'll probably replace the TGD from you (because i'm too nice for it  i feel like an asshole) and i just asked myself... huh... why stop with that, WHAT IF...
and then i went here to ask

because... you know - the sounds come and go, the pedals come and go, but you are the master

and change this crazy could inspire whole bunch of new ideas and at least i could try some things i haven't tried yet  i'm too close to trying - i think the only thing that keeps me from doing that is the fact i'm in a band and we gig and rehearse - and it's not easy to go on an pedal odyssey like that

I've replaced everything originally on it multiple times, with 2 exceptions.

US and Algal Bloom. Both painted and the first two I ever purchased when discovering ILF/DE forums.

I remember when I decided my pedalboard was complete and I didn't need to change anything on it.
I don't have anything from that board left
rc20, re20, holy grail, OK, synth mangler, TBD, SPAE, ABSynth, ECT, they've all been my 'pedal to end all pedals' at one point or another...and they're all either gone or on the chopping block xD

i do have two one-of-a-kind pedals, so I don't think I'd ever completely revise them. Especially since I wrote songs that only the can execute.
