Thanks guys for the support. Got it back from Dionysus here. Cash converters weren't very nice and demanded that I go to the police station and report the stolen pedal, plus get a court order for them (cash converters) to return the pedal
So I just paid the 30 Aus they bought it for and left it as that. I think the overall amount I paid for it could have got me a spanking new one, but hey, this has history eh? Just didn't want the hassle of going here and there when I have other priorities.
Thanks Dionysus and your friend (didn't get his name) for the help facing off with the cash converter staff who weren't too helpful. Glad you got your cash back.

No worries, I'm glad you were able to get it back in the end!
Although it made a mockery of their pretense of acting in accordance with the law when they were prepared to sell it back to you. All with the knowledge that it was stolen, of course. Apparently the petty despots weren't prepared to lose 30 rods for the company.
I just couldn't believe that they were going to make you go to that much trouble to have the pedal returned to you. I was indignant!
But you got it back and that's the main thing! Avoiding a pointless bureaucratic nightmare is probably worth a few dollars.
