Question about Reverb Pedals

I'd never even thought about buying a reverb pedal before I joined this forum. Now after checking out demos of some of these, the reverb on my amp just doesn't sound dramatic enough. I guess I'll just have to add one more pedal to the list...

I have a RRminiR, and there are plenty of great settings on there, and the size is fantastic. Doesn't take up much room at all on my board.

Although, I have been GAS'ing big time over the Strymon BlueSky! My El Cap is the best delay I've ever played, so I'm confident in Strymon's ability to create a quality digital pedal.

Does a great job of showing how this pedal sits in the mix... even when it's on pretty much every instrument. haha.

If it helps any I have the reverb on my amp dimed...
and my holier grail maxed...
and I just snagged a chicklet for $85 off TGP which will no doubt be set to 11.
and when I sell some stuff I'll have a miniRRR for my other verb toanz.

Well I'm cheap, so to save money on cables I run everything in front anyways. But, I like having a reverb or two in front and at the end of the chain.

Or the original black version, which is the same but without trails option. The Line 6 Verbzilla, also has plenty of weird and wonderful types of reverb on it if you're after something really different.

I know this has been touched upon before but as far as the Spring Chicken vs Chicklet goes, is the Spring Chicken worth the price tag to you guys??? They go for around 250 now and I'm just wondering besides the Exp pedal input if there's much of a difference in tone. I know the Chicklet doesn't self-oscillate as well, if at all... and that's not a deal breaker for me. But from all the research I've done online now they don't sound too different when it comes to the main tone I'm going for(clean, thick reverb on a tele. think buckley's hallelujah) Basically I guess I'm wondering if the differences are worth paying twice the price?

Only real reason (IMO) the price shot up for the SC was discontinued. I remember witnessing it. It's a fascinating phenomenon.

Yeah' I'm just kind of still wondering if the Chicklet lives up to what it's advertised as. I mean I really like the demo's... I think it's just that Malekko went from selling a very beloved pedal that sold extremely well in the Spring Chicken to the Chicklet, which they're selling at a significantly cheaper price. Just seems like in theory it shouldn't as good a pedal being that much cheaper. I don't know, I cant make my mind up between the two. I'll probably just end up getting the Chicklet tho. I guess I can always use it on my synth if I'm not happy with it on guitar.

If you really like the demo's then you've answered your own question.

I think the prime reason for the move to the chicklet was that Malekko didn't want to rely on the Belton bricks used in the chicken and wanted a more unique pedal build. And since everyone wanted the dwell control mod that sealed the deal as well as creating an addition to the new omicron line-up.

Anyway, as far as tone issues go, I've read that some people thought the original chicken had a little too much background noise. Andy at pro guitar shop even politely points out in the chicklet demo that it's "in a smaller, quieter package" than the original.

The chicken had a lot of hype about it. I'm sure it was a great pedal, the demo's speak for themselves, but maybe it got released too prematurely and suffered a little as a result. They go for a lot simply because of pedal collector fetishists.

Well personally I like both of the Malekko Reverbs.. But personally I won't pay that much for an original Chicken.. So if you were me, I would chose the Chicklet
Plus it is way smaller so good for your pedal-space;)
