Not sure if it's actually a ring mod, but I am pretty sure I can get close enough with one

Oooh I forgot about that one, I could definitely get behind a Gonkulator too.

George Duke - "North Beach" from the album Faces in Reflection (recorded in 1973)

This is ILF through and through. I bought the remastered CD from 2008 a few days ago (and the quality of the CD is outstanding!) and listened to it today for the first time.
It's George Duke's first solo album featuring synthesizers (Arp Odyssey) and in the case of this song ring modulation as well. The song is incredible. Again: it's from 1973!

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
idk. I think I might put it in the running for "worst looking pedal ever." might be a higher chance of success/standing out there. but...maybe it's destiny is a mere "also ran?"
sad, sad wings of destiny....
bonus edit - video highlights - be sure not to miss these!
0:12 - unnecessary jump cut editing to create a sense of anticipation has the unanticipated effect of creating in the viewer a just-shy-of-overwhelming sensation of hopelessness
0:17 - unexpressed ire at/suspicion of recording rig and/or intense need to disassociate from clean tone
0:27 - failed attempt to disguise disgust at appearance of pedal by turning to the side
1:10 - a new way of editing? He speaks and there is no sound!
1:12 - 2:12 - noodle nooedle noeodle neudolle head bop newdl
2:27 - eyes up and to the right - a classic tell that the speaker is lying. not clear whether the lie is "this is my own personal favorite fuzz face" or "I've built a bunch of them"
2:29 - clear expression of disdain for audience that would find his babbling about "weird Russian germanium transistors" socially acceptable
OK - that's all I've got for now. As for the rest, you're on your own. Just know: I will be watching and will report back on any future demo video transgressions.

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
I’ve decided to sell my Pigtronix Ringmaster. Too many concentric knobs, a goofy adapter and not enough bang for the buck.
If they made their pedals a little bit bigger and ditched the concentric pots I might reconsider, it’s fun but never gets any real use.

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
My big problem with the Ringmaster is that I still don’t fully get the operating principles. Everything I find ends up being accidental. Without a method of attack, I would have been better off with a Frequency Analyzer or Minifooger. But I’ll keep at it. Maybe some dedicated woodshedding time would help.
