Recently found out about the Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxx, looks pretty bad-ass to me. 2 transistors with hard clipping diodes and it is loud too! Apparently it was very popular with New-York bands which may make it very relevant to my interests

crazy, i didnt know about the supasustainer.

i think the power boost is considered the first overdrive.
it's the orange one.
jeff beck first made it famous, but the power boost into the hiwatt (with or without fuzzface, echorec and whatever else) is what gilmour's tone was for essentially the entire 70's.
pretty much every famous pink floyd guitar track i can think of... involved power boost into hiwatt. all that lead shit at the beginning of "SHine On..." that's powerboost -> hiwatt.
that's not why i'm getting it - i mean, you won't get that tone without the hiwatt anyway, not even close.
i'm trying to get one because it sounds fucking sick when it's cranked man

"that pedal show" did a pretty good video on the power boost, including comparing about 5 clones of it, along with an original vintage and an overdrive (the v2 of the power boost)
i won't bother linking the video because i'm guessing most people here hate that show, easy enough to find.
long video but you can skip around and check out the clones. that's really the fun shit to me. all the clones of these classic circuits, and the little differences...

The Fuzzz Boxx is great. It has a unique sound like a crunchy dirty amp with nice sustain. It feels more like an overdrive than fuzz ...

Ask Ian on here or Instagram?

I know he was using a lot of mil spec equivalents for a while.

Super Electric does some cool fuzzes, based in Ireland. Mainly focused on vintage fuzz. If I get a Buzzaround itch again I think I would like him to scratch it

Speak of the devil. Here came the buzzaround itch again. this is an excellent demo. I used to have an arcane analog buzzaround in a lovely wedge enclosure that was worth way too much money. It only took batteries as well and my dumb ass obviously forgot to turn it off properly and drained the battery several times. Eventually I sold it.

I can confirm the Super Electric stuff is quality. Based on the one pedal I've been borrowing for a while now
