Re: EGC Bolt-on Neck Projects
thanks! hopefully it'll turn out in the end! I think it will, with the EGC neck/headstock, black guard, black knobs and bridge, and a brushed aluminum alumitone p90 pickup (although it's a swimming pool route so I can change it at will). right now it's on the backburner because my dude is doing some other work for me (which is fine -- nitro's gotta dry), but i suspect i'll have it in a couple weeks.
my biggest concern is how off balance it'll be. It won't be as bad as the neck's current body (a thinline!) but I think, if it's too much, I'll add one of those 2tek bridges (or something similar that's high mass). in any case, it'll be something very different!!

Re: EGC Bolt-on Neck Projects
Unified Guitar Works is building me up a crazy short scale with an EGC bolt-on neck right now. Not sure how to embed pics from Instagram, but this is the body...

When’s the eta on finishing that? I hope you’re getting a turquoise pickguard. Looks hot

Re: EGC Bolt-on Neck Projects
JonnyAngle asked me about My RGI neck so I thought I show some detailed photos as well as comparing it an EGC neck.
My RGI neck is the fifth or sixth made. I believe he has altered the design slightly since the first run.
The most obvious difference is that the RGI is a thin neck and has more of a flat almost "boxy" neck contour compared to the EGC's rounder more traditional neck. It maybe hard to tell in the photos but is most noticeable in the heels. RGI's heel looks similar to how neck-through EGC instruments transition from neck to body.
The fretboard on the RGI extends past the heel. On the Squier JM body I had it on first the neck sat flush in the pocket but on the Fender CPJM it required a shim (this is mostly due to the pickguard though). I did have an issue with string tension with the RGI on the Squier body. Tuning in C Standard made it very easy for the string to slip out of the saddles. This is a known Jazzmaster issue and has since eliminated since swapping it to the Classic Player body.
Something to note that is also can be seen in Aen's video. The bolts for the RGI (at least in the 1st run) are larger than standard neck screws. I used a drill press on the Squier to enlarge the holes* and a file on the Fender. Or you can do it Aen's way (4:50).

*The Squier the body slipped and I accident made one of the holes partially oblong which I had to fix later with a shim.
TLDR:
To me the EGC feels more comfortable as is it feels the most familiar but I have no plans to get rid of the RGI.

Hawt. Sploog emoji etc.
I chose the rgi because I wanted thinner like my tyranny. I can tell it looks boxier
I am also looking for something unique, not like other things I have. Thanks, kB!!

It wanted to dive a little bit on the lighter Squier body but not at all with the Fender.

No ETA really. We're just sort of letting it happen at its own pace. I'm not in a rush. Pickguard color is a current topic of discussion though. Interesting thought on the turquoise!JonnyAngle wrote:When’s the eta on finishing that? I hope you’re getting a turquoise pickguard. Looks hot

I never posted mine. Still in heavy rotation. If I do another partscaster down the road, I think I’ll use the same Lollar/Senn pickups. They are great.

Still need to play that one, Hyphen. Looks like such a ripper.

It’s better than it should be. That body was tough to work with, but Matt Wright made it alright.kosta wrote:Still need to play that one, Hyphen. Looks like such a ripper.
