If I get the SWR it will do 2x15 (with the sunn)
That should be fine right ?

That's pretty big. LOL! I'm sure it will be.

Re: Need more headroom !
if i were looking at a dedicated bass amp, i agree entirely that 100W is not enough. i would also get as many 15" speakers as i could afford/transport. i think 15s are much better for bass than 10s which IMO have too much top end and not enough booty bass.

I run my V4 into an ultra efficient 215 or an 810 and the 215 to keep up at band volumes for bass. It’s really just not loud enough into a single speaker. 300+ watts tube or solid state is definitely the move.

Hmm well I'll have to see how it goes with both the Sunn 1x15 and SWR 1x15 (2x15 total) and if it's not enough I try to sell some other stuff for a louder amp (I'm keeping the V2 for sure).

Got the SWR, haven't brought it to the jam space yet but I'm wondering how I'll stack them... (SWR and Sunn). The SWR is so deep, it' almost twice as deep as the Sunn but also like an inch less wide... my setup is gonna look weird as fuck lol

Haha.
Faced with the exact same problem I've decided to stay with my light 1x15 and buy a louder amp.
Mismatched cab setups look fantastic though.

Re: Need more headroom !
In some case they do, but I don't think this is one of them
The depth difference will make it look so weird I think... I might have to trade or sell my Sunn to get another SWR (or another deep cab)... This is pretty sad because I haven't got the Sunn for long and it's so cool
Maybe I'll try to trade or sell something else..

Re: Need more headroom !
Sunn gear looks cool but for bass you really need solid cabinets with good speakers. Especially with an old head that isn't designed for modern bass playing.
IMHO you have to make a choice to either get a more powerful head or a more powerful speaker configuration. Guitarists can get by with low wattage amps with only one speaker but you can't really do that with bass unless you can get support from a PA at shows.

I was thinking adding another SWR, like either another Son of Bertha or a Goliath/Goliath jr (4x10 or 2x10), and maybe try to find a GK 400RB or 800RB ... or some other not too expensive but great SS head.
I'd have to trade or sell some gear tho...

You can find GK 1001rb-IIs for around $500 all day on Reverb. Also look at used Hartke amps - crazy wattage for not a lot of scrap, but they may be TOO clean.
As for SWR, try to get a Goliath-III or earlier if you can. Those were the last generation before Fender bought them and butchered the line.
Or you can do what I did and hop on board with GK's powered MB line. They're super light weight and fucking LOUD. Right now I'm using an MB212-ii and at 500 watts it's one of the loudest 212 pairings I've used since my Genz-Benz days. If I wanted to get bonkers I could add the 212MBP (powered cab) for another 500 watts.
