Making your own cables: Whats good these days

It's been awhile since I made any cables. I used to cut up older long cables and also mistakenly tried the Lava solderless which suck.

Who makes good/decent instrument cable and jacks? Doesn't need to be the highest grade $50 per foot stuff.

(they work perfectly so long as you use some sand paper to rough up the inside of the jack before soldering the ground wire to it)

have you tried hicon pancake-shape jacks? not super low profile but decent quality as far as i can tell

Ooh those squareplugs look great! Definitely going to give those a plugs go next time I need patch cables.

I haven't tried the hicon, but they seem good quality! They have a tab for the signal connection and a bit of plastic to isolate it, both of which make things easier.

I use G&H right angle plugs and Canare GS6. A patch made from those costs about $7 depending on length and I have some on my board that I built 15 years ago.
