Marbeau Synth Voicemail lofi tabletop sampler

Post by Dandolin »

New--a collaboration with Noise Reap; reasonable to assume a connection to Noise Reap's ISD Sampler eurorack module, yeah? I've got her Rawroar squarewave noisedrone synth and it rules--an instant mind-altering, time-stopping chaotic trancedrone wormhole. That one, the Tridriver, DAME, and now this seem like a great fit with each other...and the price is pretty nice. :snax:

Woah, never heard of this maker before. Everything on offer seems really cool, and actually relatively cheap.
solo (mostly ambient): https://heraclitusakimbo.bandcamp.com/
duo (electroacoustic vibration exploration): https://wenderlypark.bandcamp.com/
trio (tapes/voice/clarinet/synth/poems): https://ourwaytofall.bandcamp.com/
band (spontaneous kosmische): https://stargoon.bandcamp.com/

I also help co-ordinate Okta, ILF's collaborative community ambient project: https://okta.bandcamp.com

Yeah, she has a good ear. Questions of functionality aside, where some other builders may offer different, or more, functionality, I just really like the way Marbeau stuff sounds. The Rawroar is very appropriately named, and the additions to the functionality enhance the rawness and the roar, rather than trying to tame it or round it off. If you want shimmering filtered clouds, there's the Tridriver. The DAME is something I haven't seen a ton of analogs to, with the drifting sync. The Voicemail is obviously no Lofi Dreams, which is totally    , but it has a really appealing crunchiness, and I like the control scheme, especially the ability to cv both trigger and clock rate...looking forward to sampling the Tridriver/Rawroar and play the samples with my KMA QuNexus through Outward/Bakvendt/Syntax Error; or sampling something metallic and triggering that in conjunction with/opposition to the drifting pulse of the DAME....

I know some other folks here are in the know with Marbeau, because I found out about her through a search for "drone" or some aught when I was sketching out ideas for a project :snax:

Hmm, seen their stuff on Ebay but was reluctant to pull the trigger without additional info. Good to hear that you like their stuff. The Voicemail is already out of stock though...

I have the marbeau touch box and its very cool and it was very inexpensive. Its a 5 osc drone synth with touch pads, kinda like the ezhi&aka stuff has now days. I didnt see it offered on her site anymore but its worth checking out if thats yr thing. This looks very interesting as well! I might have to grab one of these down the line.

Yeah, the touch box looks very cool! But I think it is a thing of the past. I guess a down-side of smaller shops/builders is variability of supply, which can be frustrating for sure.... She used to do a Grime Box with a sawtooth oscillator and dirty delay and the demo sounded like amazing, but it seems to have bifurcated into the Rawroar and Tridriver.... :idk: :snax: I'll have my eye out for sure....

When I ordered the touch box from her it had the option of choosing what color the enclosure was gonna be. It might be worth asking if you could you get it in purple.
