I was thinking I could get a eurorack or 2 and have a tiny Euro setup, but I'm not too keen on diving into the $$ and obsession that is modular.

The best filter I could recommend around $100 would be a used Source Audio Stingray. On the Stingray, you can engage two adjacent modes at once. It also does phasing. If you want a smooth multi-mode filter, that's a good choice.WORMDIRT wrote:~$100 would be perfect.
