garnet session man reverb tank

does anybody know what size or whatever of a reverb tank a garnet session man has? I'm pretty outta my element with replacing this

Lots of variables (resistance, decay) but really id just make sure that a replacement will fit, after that, as betteroffshred noted, whether it works, and whether you like the sound is something else entirely (edited for beer-related grammar fails)

well the one I bought doesn't have one hah

so as long as it'll fit in the amp I can use it? I want something more fender-y sounding

So you bought the amp, and someone had removed the reverb tank itself? Does it have wiring going to where the tank used to be? Does it have a 12au7 tube or similar in the reverb tube socket? There are a lot of components that operate this system including the transformer, is that still present? Without knowing why the reverb tank has been deleted from the circuit, the number of questions about what's nonfunctional and or missing are numerous. Sure you could buy a tank and stuff it in there, maybe it'll work maybe not. Since there are also numerous impedance ranges and sizes/coils etc it's also a gamble.

Not to send you elsewhere, but I'd go over to Hoffman amps forums and start a thread. There will most likely be someone there who knows all about this model.

Also there is a legitimate danger of B+ voltage around the reverb components, so I would advise caution with any tinkering you do in the amp.

There should be RCA cables or jacks feeding the reverb tank.

I peeked at a Session Man schematic and it appears your feed to the reverb tank is a transformer coupled 12AU7, and the xfrmr calls for 8 ohms on the secondary...

SO, you want an 8 ohm input on the tank. You can probably get away with anything in the less than 100 ohms range, but 8 ohm tanks are common.

The secondary of the tank is directly feeding a tube, so you'll want something north of 2K, also common.

I'm a fan of AES with stuff like this, they have a decent range of products and a fairly well thought out synopsis of all the players (mind you, I cannot personally vouch for their findings, as I have not done AB testing across the ranges myself; I have, however, been happy with their services in the past):

Beyond that, as stated above, it is a matter of physical fit and being sure your supporting circuitry is up to the task.
