I traced the "original" vero layout from photos provided after being approached by a certain Canadian who used to frequent here and post pics of his expensive gear. That layout got posted by myself to Freestompboxes in 2011 and was corrected/"corrected" by The Man himself when he posted the hand drawn schematic that's been floating around since. I think it was IVIark who found the error in D.'s schem and the tagboard layout was based on that.

That all being said, the Zeke has gone through a lot of subtle variations mostly involving op-amps. The one I traced way back when used a JRC2114D. Mojo components are pretty much all hype; if you have the truly "golden" ears that it would require for detecting the subtle frequency differences between different materials in resistors and capacitors... let's just say you wouldn't be posting on a forum called "ilovefuzz". Most of the differences attributed to those components (less so with op-amps and such) have more to do with the subtle variances from the labelled values and the actual measured ones.

TL;DR Just try tweaking a cloned Zeke or waste your money on a $600 pedal that you're ultimately going to be stomping your big ol' clompers all over. I ain't yo' daddy.

I typed and deleted about 4 responses about mojo components. It's cool, I'm not trying to argue but I also feel like the proof of their value exists beyond the realm of human detection.

DAM makes awesome stuff. I won't deny that his circuits are all pretty much straight Juice. .. but yeah I think you throw some mid grade parts at a clone and audition opamps till you're pleased with the results. As for diode clipping, there are so many diodes out there and if you find something with audibly pleasing forward voltage you're done.

I don't have a real one or a clone so it's all just conjecture, but I'd be willing to bet if you set them identically and put them on the scope you probably wouldn't see much difference.

Yeah man I dunno, like I said they all sound really great, but not super way better than anything else. I have a few clones, and they are amongst my favorites for sure. I guess he's just a real dude who makes good stuff and doesn't make any compromises anywhere. Spaceman stuff is the same way, and all his pedals are like 600$ for a fuzz. Yikes.

Spaceman enclosures are pretty much super amazing aesthetics if you ask me though.
