Richard fucking Barbieri...incredible musician. And of course with the greatest bass player ever, Mick Karn and drummer Steve Jansen.

Damn, I need to make a spotify playlist from this thread.

I am not too familiar with keyboardists outside of the obvious contenders. I did go see Wolf Parade live a few weeks ago which is a bit more post-punk/indie, but the lead singer/keyboardist was phenomenal. Could have just been his live energy, the whole band blew me away beyond my expectations as I hadn't really given their albums too much time. But live, HOO BOY. Good shit.

Anywho, keep this thread going so I can listen to some CLASSICS.

i agree with the choice of Allen Ravenstine...when i saw the U2 Zoo TV tour, the Pixies opened with Ravenstine as guest keyboardist. he made the Pixies three times as interesting.

Don't know if it's synth, some mean filter/synth wah, or guitar through synth:

I forot about it, then it came on some CD I had left in my wife's CR-V CD changer

Nice filter on that track. :thumb:

Again, not really punk or new wave (definitely electronic/post punk):

Greg Hawkes of The Cars

The outro of this song is just... :!!!:

I can't believe a band that was so weird and ugly were basically the kings of early 80s AOR rock radio.

I had never even heard of this one. It's Pete Shelley from the buzzcocks 1974 album. Thanks Wikipedia!
