About to do a big sell off of modules i'm either not using or don't jive with.

While we're talking about sequencers, I ended up with an intellijel metropolis since I had to buy my case with a couple of the previous owners modules in it. I planned on just selling it off but I am having a good bit of fun with it. That said, it is HUGE, so when I start getting close to full in my case I might be looking to swap this thing out for something a little more hp-efficient. Open to suggestions- I'm not sure things like Rene or Circadian Rhythms are quite my bag.

I'm pretty sure Rene and Circadian are both the same or similar HP to the Metropolis. Honestly, I'm pretty sure most fully featured sequencers are roughly that size.

I liked my Xaoc Moskwas a lot and the Xaoc Tirana II looks pretty interesting (I saw a video chaining a bunch together), but they wouldn't really compare to the Metropolis.

Honestly, Metropolis is one of the best sequencers on the market IMO. It has depth but also immediacy, which I have yet to find in another sequencer.

For HP efficiency, I have to recommend the Monome Ansible + Grid. It's expensive as fuck (mainly because of the controller), but it's only 6hp; you get 4 tracks of cv/gate sequencing, multiple programs to sequence with, etc... The Grid controller is a dream, too. Very well built and intuitive with a ton of depth, but does have a learning curve.

You could also go Qu-Bit Octone and get similar functionality (quantized or unquantized outs, racheting, scales, etc.) and you can even link 2 Octones together. I haven't used this personally, but it looks great (especially with 2 together). They're 10hp each.

The learning curve on the Ansible + Grids combo is a pain. I'm going through it right now. It's a lot cooler than any of the other fully featured sequencers I've used though.

But my Akemie's Castle has a noise problem right now so I'm just overall bummed.

Great recommendations, thanks. I think you hit the nail on the head with the metropolis with your point about it being immediate. Despite having a screen (which really, I don't mind). It's super easy to tell exactly what it's doing at a quick glance, anytime. I'm having a ton of fun with the two cv aux inputs as well, really easy to get things sounding interesting as soon as you start modulating things like the ratchet amount or the sequence/octave shift amounts.

Maybe one day I'll be able to afford a Grid...
Worra look into the Voltage Block! It's only ~20hp and it has 8 channels of CV sequencing! I'm going with that and the Varigate 4+ as my sequencing setup. The two together take up the same amount of space as a Rene.

I read it can go microtonal too. Which has me very interested.
I'm just now kind of starting to research sequencers. I won't be able to get one until I expand. Not sure if I want a big bad ass do it all or something small and quick. I would definitely want it to be immediate for a noob but deeper possibilities when I need to go further.

The double Octone looks cool for small. But it might be too small for my big dumb hands.

I love how small the Octone is, I just don't like it's price. At the point that you could get 2 of them to get a whole buttload of functionality, you'd looking at $600, and there seems the be a lot better things out there for that price.

I will say this RE: Grid, depending on which program you're running, it can be super easy and intuitive or super complicated. Kria makes sense after a few hours with it, and that can go by even faster if you print out the diagram of the shortcuts. Eventually, you'll remember where everything is supposed to be. Meadowphysics, on the other hand, still makes absolutely no sense to me. In reality I'd love to start writing my own programs for it or testing out some other user created programs, but I haven't looked into that side of things too much. It's certainly a pro, though - essentially an infinitely evolving module.

Also I want a Tetrapad so bad - even with my Brains+PPx2 combo.

Sidenote: I wish Intellijel's stealth cases were still in stock. :-(

The tones between the tones are the only tones for me. In fact, I eagerly await fully digitized nano tone modules.

It's been something I've wanted to mess around with.
The whole point of the box I'm building is to do things a traditional synth can't do.
I guess I can do something similar messing around with a quantizer.
