Tuner-->compressor-->HM2-->octaver. All you need, IMO.

This thread..

Okay, so, Ben Hoga, do you only listen to music with bass players who use a compressor, an HM2 (very specific) and an octaver? Or how do reckon that this setup is all anyone needs? This goes for anyone really in this thread who claims "x, y and z is all you need". And also, it's all you need, for what? I'm bewildered.

Get get what you need to do the job you need. If you need a lot of sounds because that is what is required for what you are playing. do that.
If all you need is a fucking chord. do that.

I agree with Mud, D.o.S., but that doesn't really answer my question. Everyone's needs are different, which is why these general statements confuse me.

'Do what's right for you' is nice, but not really the spirit of ILF: where hyperspecific opinions matters more than reason.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Not following. Typically the folks making the sweeping statements have at least some obligation to, you know, defend them

Projecting what ilf is onto ilf is silly.

This thread is a pretty good example of "This is what I do, therefore it is the only right thing to do."
