Was there the variety back then? And obviously, there wasn't the digital presence.Meriphew wrote:I'd say the Golden Age of synths would have been the early 80's. So many beautiful analog machines.

For analog synths there was about 10x the selection compared to now. I prefer analog synths over digi synths.JereFuzz wrote:Was there the variety back then? Perhaps but there wasn't the appreciation for analog gear that there is now.Meriphew wrote:...For analog synths there was about 10x the selection compared to now. I prefer analog synths over digi synths.

This is the golden age if price/availability apply.
Keep in mind back in the day, a lowly Boss chorus pedal was a week's pay on minimum wage and then some.e
This stuff is a pittance compared to what it used to cust, let alone the extra cool stuff.

Absolutely. And I would say that this extends to music equipment as a whole.rfurtkamp wrote:This is the golden age if price/availability apply.

OK, one year since this last post ... is it the Golden Age now? It seems to get better and better ... there are so many synths I want (and some I want duplicates of) I have trouble deciding what route to go ... Arp Odyssey or Minilogue or Reface CS or Mother 32? It's scary out there
