Post pics of cool ass enclosures here. The stranger, the better!!!

This is an old sewing machine pedal that I hacked apart and plan to turn into a ToneMachine clone (I hope). I'm not as good with a soldering iron as I am with a saw and router.

I always see those sewing machine pedals for like $20 at thrift stores. What gives? They should be like $5 tops.

The same goes for metal lunchboxes. How am I supposed to make a little hard case for my mic if I can buy a commmercial one for less?

I guess thrift stores expect to sell the sewing machine pedals to ppl that actually own sewing machines and would be willing to spend $20 for a new pedal. If they knew that the pedal would be sitting around and not selling, they'd prolly go for much cheaper. I got two of them at a surplus store in Toronto for $12 each. Kinda pricey, but since I don't plan to make a whole bunch of 'em, I thought it'd be worth it.

a long time ago a made an overdrive in a pedal like this. sort of ugly job inside but it squeezed in. its pretty nice to use as a volume pedal or variable distortion.



there used to be a switch where that big hole is but it brokedown so i just removed it.

That's funny because this is a Fal Treble Booster, and we were all ribbing the guy who bought it that it looked like a sewing machine pedal

This is the case for me as well. I always skim goodwill (conveniently located across from my work) for unique, or mangleable enclosures...clock radios for instance (have an awesome one waiting to be turned into an amp). Always wanted to put a circuit into an old stereo speaker as well, like a tone generator or something. Use witch hat fender type knobs to keep it classic looking, and a 9v jack even

One thing that never fails is "dollar store" type places. Not really "cool" but cheap and effective. Most of the time, the enclosures I find there are more suited for non-stomp effects, like APC or similar circuits. I have bunch of these mini "lunchboxes" that had laffy taffy, smarties, etc in them that I got from there; about twice as big as an altoids tin.
