So my 11yr old...

Post by NeatNeatNeatRecords »

... did a pedal demo for 4H today.
He's been playing bass for about a year, and I tell ya, if he keeps practicing like he does now, he's going to smoke me in no time.
He had a Blue Box (that I just got from Pumpkin Pieces), a Boss Super Shifter and Super Chorus, a Copilot Antenna (on loan from Steve Stoll from Properboy) and a Seppuku Repeater. He went through each one and gave a little decription of each one and played through them all one by one, and then did some combinations of different ones to show how they played together. From what my wife tells me, he was received very well, and everyone asked him tons of questions about all the stuff he brought. He's going back to do it in a month.
I'm awfully proud of the lil guy right now.

This is very cool! My 13 year old plays a little guitar, lap steel, trombone and piano and has a Little Big Muff. Maybe our kids'll play the same club one day. Great thread :thumb:

Nice! For a split second, I tried to figure out what forum 4H was, and then I remembered what it was... But that's because they didn't have 4H where I grew up - we had the most half-assed cub scouts ever, and that was about it...

Very cool that your kid is spreading the FX love already! My 3 year old likes to bang on my bass, and I'm trying to think of low-key ways to get him into music making... maybe a ukelele. I'd like to think that someday he's going to be rocking out with his little buddies (one of whom actually does show interest in & promise on drums already... at 2 & 1/2!)...
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I had some pictures of my little bro playing drums when he was 6 or so, can't find them now :( . It was when I still lived at home, my drummers kit stayed in my garage...my little bro would come try to jam with us from time to time.

Nice! I was messing around with my Phantom Octave and started playing the riff for Snowblind by Sabbath and my 5 year old got on the drums and started bobbing his head and getting lost in space like he does. By the time I put my guitar down he was playing an actual tom-kick-snare beat based on the riff and I was fortunate enough to get it on vid. There, I did my job, now I'm off to the bar!
