pwm layout?

So I was searching for layouts and ran across this at [url]insonicbloomsfx.livejournal.com[/url]:

All that is said about it is that it makes your guitar sound like a gameboy...no video or sound clips or anything, but, that's got to sound awesome, right? I'm dying to try it just to find out. Just thought I'd share...if I get this breadboarded anytime soon, I'll share the results.

The PWM (Pulse width modulator) is a Tim Escobedo design from here http://folkurban.com/Site/PWM-715.html

There used to be sound clips on his old geocities page which has since gone down but with some searching some copies exist.

You can leave out the 386 from the front and put your own fuzz if you want, it's just there to drive the whole thing.

Sounds a bit like a Synthmonger Pulsemonger. He's definitely got some squarewave PWM science inside those boxes.

Sounds like a plan... with a high gain glitchy fuzz infront I bet you'd get some awesomely interesting sounds out of it...

Should be pretty simple to do though, infact you could just build the PWM section in a seperate box and then run whatever fuzz pedal you own that you like infront of it (Although that would require turning two pedals on at once to get it to work)

I can probably whip up a breadboard layout if you want for testing purposes.

Sounds great! I will have to try many things with this. I've seen before where it was mentioned that you could use the 386 section alone, but I never thought to do it with the fun 40106 section.

I really want to start tinkering with this soon. Need to get my w.mammoth built, then I'll go to this. The Dial Up Mod is another circuit I'm interested in. From what I've heard, it works best with a fuzz (no complaints there), rather than alone,etc. Getting a combination of those going would surely be fun.

HI there......I'm trying to do this device and as I am pretty much a noob in this domain, I was wondering 1) where is the output of the board and 2) as C3 seems to be an electrolytic cap, just want to be sure that the neg leg connects to the ground. For the wiring, i followed the beavis audio stompboxe wiring but nothing's working. it pretty much pop when I manipulate the board but no sounds as it supposed to be. Thanx for your help!! (I followed the first vero layout)
