I want one. I haven't really had problems with my JM, but you know, it makes you play better.Tom Dalton wrote:You're a dumbass for making this thread to begin with.

I can see the appeal of the Mastery bridge, especially using Newark's reasoning but in all seriousness, the thing is prohibitively expensive for your average player. I bought a Squier Tele for only $10 more than this bridge costs, before shipping.
Newark, the Mastery site claims that the bridge "has a dramatic effect on the transfer of string-to-body energy, giving your guitar much greater resonance that you'll even hear acoustically." Did you find this to be the case with your JM when you installed it? If so, can you describe the difference?

NewarkWilder wrote:isn't a jazzmaster prohibitively expensive in the first place if you can't afford this bridge? I just don't see why a significant hardware upgrade like this is out of bounds when people pay out the nose for pedals they are sure to sell in a month, or maybe a better comparison would be upgrading your pickups or something... its not cheap, but I really don't see how its prohibitively expensive.
But that's part of my point, isn't it? I've never owned a JM but I do have a Jag and it cost me $1100 upfront, then another $120 to get a new bridge pup and have it installed (this was before I knew how to do things like this myself), plus $50 for a Mustang bridge. I set up the guitar myself (I use 11-54's on her) and she plays wonderfully. I'm sure the Mastery would make her play even better but considering all the money I've put into the Jag already and considering that my GAS never lets up, i just feel that the money I'd spend on the Mastery could be better put to use in other ways that would potentially have a significantly greater impact on my overall tone... new speakers, new tubes, better quality effects, etc.
In truth, I do want one. Just not at full retail price. If I could find one for <$100 + shipping, i'd be all over it.

If I have a budget of $700 for a guitar... It's $700. Not, $850. It's funny that people always throw around well if you can afford that, then SURELY you can afford this too.

Re: mastery bridge
i spent around $120 for a callaham guitars bridge on my telecaster, and i'd say it was worth the investment just for the improvements in intonation the saddles offered, to say nothing of added comfort, sustain, and resonance.
i can see how i'd at least CONSIDER buying one of these.

that's a pretty big generalization, and this is a pretty specific issue in question. if you're in the market for a JM you've got to at least CONSIDER bridge issues--it comes with the territory, always has.
I've never owned, only played them. But I'm told if set up correctly, there shouldn't be a need for a new bridge. I have some friends who use Jags exclusively and they swear by a proper set up. Also, Drasp will tell you the same thing. Either you spend the money getting the Mastery (which is totally cool, and if I was looking for the best of the best I'd hit in a second), or spend the time and set it up correctly. To each his own.

Really? A masterdebater? Why'd you stop?
Anyways, did I mention I want one? People charge that much to "set up" a guitar anyways...

Re: mastery bridge
You guys know that shit uuh....the stranger! Thats it its like when you sit on your hand to put it to sleep then slap your junk around? It doesnt fucking work. you can totally still feel your dick in your hand even if you close your eyes and think real hard about someone else. Not to mention that the sleeping sensation goes away after like 10-15 secs. I dont recommend this method of masturbation at all.

That's because you're doing it wrong! It's a common misconception that you're supposed to sit on your hand until it falls asleep. You're supposed to sit on your hand while holding your member until the both fall asleep.

long story. got kicked out of my private school when I was a sophomore for being on the pot. lol. That was the year I won the most trophies, but I won a bunch as a freshman too. Never got back into it after that 'cause I bounced around a few other schools after that and eventually schemed my way into a diploma after only technically taking about 2.5 years of HS![]()
anyway sorry for the thread derailment there but those were some fun times. some really, really geeky fun times![]()
Really now? Throwing a masterdebater out? tsk tsk. 2.5 years for a diploma is pretty awesome though. That must have been some masterdebating to convince them.

Re: mastery bridge
I'd like to try one. Although........sometimes when I'm playing my jazz's and jag's, and those strings are all buzzing around and popping on either the stock or my mustang bridges, then one of them will pop out of the slot and I have to reach down and snap it back then hammer some more, and it's buzzing and doing weird things.....you all know what I'm talking about. Well, sometimes, I kind of like that and think it adds to the character. Just sayin. But yeah, I know what you guys are sayin as well.
